Alpe d'Huez
Situated in the Southern Alps the superb resort of Alpe d’Huez is something of a well kept secret! The combination southerly facing slopes, more than 230 km of linked pistes and over 300 sunshine days a year makes the resort is a firm favourite with season workers.
The slopes are varied for all levels, with a fantastic beginner area if you’re a ski virgin, amazing off piste and the longest black run in the world at 16km on the Sarenne! If you’re feeling like going further afield, for the bargain price of 65€ you can pretend to be Bond and helicopter over to neighbouring Deux Alpes for the day.
In terms of nightlife, ADH has it all; bars are welcoming to all and go on until the early hours…. check out Freeride for the cheeky slide to the toilets! When you’re nursing a sorehead or just feeling a little peckish, there is nothing better than Captain Sandwich for a bacon butty or a burger and it’s also the only source of Ribena and IrnBru in the resort!
If for some crazy reason you don’t want to hit the slopes on your time off, ADH has plenty to offer – outdoor swimming pool, ice rink, cinema, plenty of shops, climbing wall, exercise classes – there is always lot’s to do!
