Hinterglemm
At 1000 metres it may not have the instant appeal of the higher French and Austrian Resorts. But this resort has so much to offer being rated by the Scandinavian press three years running as their favourite resort. It has always been a highly sought after resort amongst Austrian returners.
It has 200 km of well linked pistes and 90% snow cannon coverage ensuring lasting snow whatever the season brings. The resort is tailored around intermediates (red runs), but, if you are just starting out there is solid ski schooling too and a good progression. When the off-piste is there it can be one of the most magical resorts with tree runs, farm fields, hidden valleys and more to explore. If skiing during the day is not enough it has the best lit fun park in Austria, for those who want to nail those tricks in the dark. Après at the end of the day is an amazing experience finishing off with a drink in the infamous Kühstall or Hinterhagalm enjoying some Austrian cheese (music not food).
Cross-country skiing, walking, hiking and sledging is all possible, as well as short day trips to Zell am See on the local bus with its beautiful lake that freezes most winters.
