High up in the Austrian Tirol on the border with Italy, Obergurgl is huge amongst British families with many returners year on year letting you know how sought after the opportunity to work here is. There are high expectations from guests that holiday here as it is known for its expensive lift pass, equipment hire and accommodation.
Like many high Austrian resorts it is a small village with not so much in terms of night clubs but the odd good bar. It is very traditional village with some charm in terms of construction of its buildings and huts.
The whole ski area combines 110km between 1930 and 3032 metres, a great area with guaranteed snow from November until May. It is good for all levels and abilities from beginners to ski tourers. Some charming reasonably priced mountain restaurants and interesting après ski bars including the valley famed Nederhütte with live music and DJs most days.
Obergurgl is the second largest British travel operator community in Austria making it a good social scene despite it remoteness and a great place to make good new friends.
