Sölden
In the Oetztal before you reach Obergurgl, Solden is roughly an hour and 15 minutes from Innsbruck airport. It is the home of the Austrian ski teams’ summer training. The large glaciers above Solden offer year round skiing and especially great snow conditions in the winter. With 2000 vertical metres of skiing available in the winter and 150 km of pistes it caters for all levels and abilities. It is also recommended for some of the best guided off-piste routes in Austria. The Swatch sponsored fun park offers a great challenge for those wanting to learn and go further and higher.
It is famous amongst the German and Austrian market for being a party town holding the season opening FIS World Cup races. It is a great draw for the first party of the season and many more through out including the famous Faschings Woche. In the winter it has a great après scene with cheesy Austrian dance music.
Although Solden may not be the largest amongst the English market it is surrounded by resorts which are such as Obergurgl 20 minutes down the road.
