Lapland Staff Chef

 

As Lapland Staff Chef you will be responsible for providing breakfast, lunch and dinner for approximately 50 staff members, 7 days a week, for the duration of the Santa’s Lapland Programme.  (You will be entitled to one day off a week, so need to ensure the preparation of meals to cover these days.)   You will need to cater to any dietary requirements as well as ensuring all staff receive a balanced and healthy diet.

 

You will have a fixed budget to work to and will be responsible for all shopping, budgeting and stock control.  You must be able to produce budget reports and account for the resort’s catering expenditure.  It is your responsibility to ensure your working environment remains clean and organised at all times.  You will be working on your own, so efficient self time management is essential. 

 

Your responsibilities will also include monitoring and maintaining the standards and quality of the catering and housekeeping in all of the resort's catered chalets, ensuring they operate within their set budgets. You will supervise chalet staff, collate weekly orders, liaise with suppliers and receive deliveries/ shop locally.

 

You will oversee all staff accommodation, including kitchens; ensuring cleanliness standards meet the company guidelines.  It is your responsibility to ensure all staff have access to cleaning products and equipment.  As some staff food will be provided by you within the staff accommodation, it is your responsibility to monitor its use / consumption, to ensure there is limited wastage and evenly distributed goods.

 

Our Lapland Staff Chef will need to be highly organised and adaptable with good catering skills, ideally having previous experience of working overseas as a chalet host or chef. You will be required to drive within the resort to transport meals from your kitchen to all of the staff accommodation.  You will also be responsible for the purchasing of food and kitchen equipment / materials which will be from the nearest town approximately 30 minutes drive away.  Experience of driving on snow is preferred but not essential.

 

Being part of the Lapland team you will be required to adhere to the Santa story at all times. Lack of natural day light and minus temperatures are also part of the day to day lifestyle you can expect.

 

As well as the general skills related to your role you will also be required to assist with other physical duties such as moving snow activity equipment, luggage and snow clearing.

 

Lapland Staff Chef/ Driver Required Experience

  • Proven experience in the catering industry including health and hygiene and health and safety knowledge essential
  • Minimum 5 years full clean driving licence
  • Experience with budgets and purchasing essential
  • Customer service experience desirable
